Zombae

The outbreak has begun to spread throughout the United States.
​
Canada has completely locked down their borders to protect their population.
Close to the border, an infected zombie has managed to stumble across the border into Thunder Bay, Ontario undetected.
Before the outbreak she was a beautiful model.
After being infected, she can’t stand to look in the mirror.
She would give anything to be beautiful again.
Even if that means taking it from someone else.
While hiding out in a park forest, she laid her eyes upon the perfect face. She was gorgeous. She looked JUST like the zombie did when she was human. She had to have her beauty somehow. She followed the woman to wherever she was going that day...
A few hours later they arrived at a studio. The woman went inside as the zombie peered through the window. Two other women were there to greet her; one with a camera and the other with an overflowing suitcase full of makeup. She carefully watched with curiosity and disdain. Suddenly, it became very clear to her what was happening; the beautiful woman was modeling for a boudoir shoot. The zombie was outraged as she was reminded of something that she thought she could never have again!
She saw the stunning model smiling, laughing, feeling confident and having fun as the photographer snapped away.
She couldn’t take it anymore. Her hatred, scorn and jealousy grew with each passing minute.
She needed to be beautiful again and she knew how she could do it.
Finally, the photographer and the makeup artist left the room to take a break, leaving the model in the studio all alone.
It was now or never.
With her beautiful new face in hand, the zombie quickly fled to the closest vacant house she could find. She grabbed a needle and thread and got to work. She transformed herself from a zombie to zombae!
Her new face was supposed to make her feel beautiful again, but something was just not quite right. Frustrated and confused she retreated to her new home in the park forest to try and figure it out.
Maybe she needed to try doing what she once loved to feel like herself again; she needed to model. She began to try out some of her favorite poses, not noticing the photographer and the makeup artist nearby watching her.
They had come to track down upon whatever monstrosity had killed their poor model and taken her face. They needed to make sure it didn’t happen to anyone else.

Confused by the incredible poses of the zombae, the photographer couldn’t help but freeze and capture some images. Realizing that she was modelling, the photographer carefully crept closer with her camera. The zombae noticed her. The photographer got ready to run. Instead of viciously attacking, the zombae looked right into the camera lens and said,
Feeling a moment of pity for the zombae, the photographer continued to capture her poses as she modeled.
Her face was pretty and she was back to doing what she loved.
Why didn’t she feel beautiful again?

She wandered down to the river to wash her new face and think.
The photographer and the makeup artist remained in the forest, paralyzed with shock and confusion. They felt bad for the zombae but they knew she would stop at nothing to feel whole again. They couldn’t let her do this again.
Distracted while gazing at her reflection in the water, the zombae was caught off guard.
They couldn’t bring themselves to end this creature’s life but they couldn’t let her roam free and continue to infect others.
Feeling satisfied with their solution, the photographer and the makeup artist got in their car to go home.
Restrained, defeated and furious the zombae looked back at what she had done.
Whether she had a beautiful face or not, what she had done made her monster.
She couldn’t fight it anymore.
She gave in to the hatred and resentment.
There was no hiding what she had become, what the outbreak had turned her into.
“If only I could have learned to embrace and accept my own unique beauty instead of taking someone else’s, things would be different.”
